Dale R. Hoyt, superintendent of Catholic schools for the Archdiocese of Hartford, presented 36 students from the four archdiocesan Catholic high schools with the Superintendent’s Summa Scholar Award March 21 in recognition of superior academic performance. The ceremony for the newly created award was held at the Archdiocesan Center at St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield. Students receiving the award must have at least an overall 4.3 grade point average, or a 98 percent average for grades nine through the first two quarters of grade 12. Each student selected one teacher from either a Catholic elementary or secondary school to be recognized for having dedicated his or her life to Catholic education and for making a significant impression on the student’s exceptional academic accomplishments.
