Chili, chowder and Chevys were the order of the day on Oct. 9, 2011, at Sacred Heart Parish’s fourth annual Car Cruise. The event, which drew about 500 people, featured 45 classic cars on display as well as chili and chowder competitions. All of the varieties of chili were made by representatives of nonprofit organizations, such as the fire and police departments as well as other groups. All of the varieties of chowder were made by parishioners. The Bloomfield Fire Department also cooked and served hot dogs. Trophy-winning chowder and chili recipes earned prizes. Mary Swecky, parish secretary, organized and coordinated the event. Photos by Lenora Sumsky.
