The transitional diaconate is a step toward priesthood. Archbishop Henry J. Mansell was the ordaining prelate. Bishops Christie Macaluso and Peter Rosazza were the principal concelebrants. The new deacons are Robert LaMar Turner, 25, who was raised in Seymour; Anthony John Smith, 47, who hails from Ridgefield; George Sombe Mukuka, 42, of Zambia; Diego Alejandro Jimenez Olaya, 27, originally from Colombia; and Iain Robert Highet, 45, from Canada.
